: Now the Skins had one of the more famous Black Quarterbacks ever - the first one to win the Super Bowl... are you amazed at how quickly Black Quarterbacks have made a home for themselves in the NFL?
OliverWill : While I'm glad to see it, I worry a little about the mold they're all in - the running quarterback. The league's patting itself on the back, but I'll be ready to concede victory on the day there's a black QB more in the classic Marino style - who couldn't run to save his life but has an arm like a cannonfirst black qb to with the Super Bowl
supertsar7 : Warren Moon wasnt good enough for you?
OliverWill : but moon is the exception to the rule plus that was about 10 or so years ago. Ditto for Doug Williams. I'm probably going against the tide on this one, but I still have a wait and see attitude
supertsar7 : When did Doug Williams win the Super Bowl for the Skins?
OliverWill : 87-88 season
supertsar7 : ok, and how old were you when that happened?
OliverWill : 10
supertsar7 : so did you look around at 10 years old and think, ok, where are all the other Black quarterbacks?
OliverWill : Sure, I thought we would see a lot more after him than what actually happened
supertsar7 : Michael Vick was the first Black quarterback to be chosen number 1, no?
OliverWill : yeah, im pretty sure of it
supertsar7 : and that was last year - the '00 draft, right?
OliverWill : yup
supertsar7 : so 12-13 years after Doug Williams, someone finally decided to "take a chance"?
OliverWill : well, the year before culpepper, mcnabb and smith were taken in the first round. plus you have aaron brooks and jeff blake, steve mcnair
supertsar7 : true, but i meant #1 overall
supertsar7 : so you really think that NFL head coaches and offensive coordinators thought that Blacks were just too dumb to figure out how to run an NFL offense?
OliverWill : I think that was true in the past (and with some teams now), certainly. But I don't prescribe to the school of thought that "X" amount of coaches should be of any race
