"death and destruction" is an attempted sad little peice that rivers somehow turns sweet and hand-holdy by slowing down to a slow dance tempo while claiming

So I cry
And I'm hurting

Every time
That I call you
You find some
Way to ditch me

but he puts a hmmm before a few of the lines and the chorus is such a sweeping lush tide that leads into weezers best guitar solos on the record (of which there are a few excellent ones) that you dont believe the fella.

moody gloom like the cure, not heartbreaking, not fake-profound, not dumb, just right.

the gorgeous sounds on this track leaves you with anything but sorrow. thankfully.
