i dont think that
even his biggest fans would say that he was an "artist", but
one thing that ken understandedly left out of his description of the
Living section is that besides the uneven quality is the amazingly bad
comic pages.
once the hearld examiner
packed it in, the times were able to grab any comic strip it wanted.
and for a little while it got some great ones. but with the retirement
of "bloom county", "calvin & hobbes", and "the
far side", the funny pages have become a joke.

just imagine if they'd
run something like this occasionally.
