we drove to the hood. people say that los angeles doesnt have any neighborhoods or any culture or any architecture.
but people who say that either live in the oc or watch it thus cant be trusted. la has lots of style, lots of history.
when the times interviewed me they said how is your blog a los angeles blog and i wanted to say
maybe its because everything i write about is either about hollywood proper or la in general
and definately about california and the west coast flava in the same way that
tommy lasorda doing anything is about the dodgers but the question they should have asked
was what would it take for you to leave la and i would have said a lot.
dream of a lifetime, a chance to see the world, a date with a pretty girl...
but there i was with my true love and she dove us south down western
on our way to crenshaw and king home of m&ms the best soulfood intown
the only place i could think of with better food on thanksgiving
than from your own oven or from your exgirlfriends heart.
did i tell you she looked gorgeous, she did.
i saw the color of her pants in the bricks of the old hotels
i saw her hair in the shadows and i held her hand
and she held mine and we turned up the corvids
and everything was fine. everything was real fine.
everything was cool.
we would have a good time.
didnt matter what sorta shark circled
underneath the thin ice of tomorrow,
today we had everything
cuz we had freedom and each other
and cash money and a tank of unleaded
and good music and condoms.
just in case.
always be
hoping
