how to continue to bury your head in the sand as demonstrated by the Instapundit, the chair of Pajamas Media.

yesterday three pretty huge news stories broke. one involved the President of the United States being called a liar by Jack Abramoff.

one involed the Vice President of the United States giving the okay to his cheif of staff Scooter Libby to leak highly classified information to the press in order to defend the administration's case for war.

and the third story is about former FEMA head Michael Brown asking the White House if it's okay if he, you know, told the truth about the Administration's communications with him right before Katrina hit the Gulf Coast, and backed up that truth with emails from the White House. emails BushCo have withheld from public view.

the worlds leading right wing political blogger has yet to even provide a keystroke to any of these right wing political news stories at his hugely popular blog instapundit.com

and im shocked.

shocked i tells you.

the instapundit is a professor at an acclaimed university. currently he's selling a book which reportedly is about blogging and its power and its transparency and how blogging is better than mainstream media because its more honest and real and faster and bereft of any office politics.

so to have this respected leader in the blogosphere and the chair of the advisory board of the political news organization pajamas media blatantly ignore big news concerning the president, the vice president, and the biggest natural disaster in the usa is... curious.

indeed, the only mention of abramoff on professor reynolds' blog without going into the archives is about a story that a democratic senator may have had business dealings with the disgraced lobbyist or his associates.

my question is, if thats bloggable - a senator's relationship to a lobbyist - then isnt the President's relationship with the lobbyist also bloggable?

especially when that lobbyist claims that the President is full of shit when he says that the two didnt really know each other and their relationship merely consisted of a few pictures during photo ops at GOP fundraisers and dinners?

if you recall the president said this of he and abramoff last month: "I don't even remember the guy. I don't know him."

Mr. Bush also said this: "Having my picture taken with someone doesn't mean that, you know, I'm a friend with them or know them very well."

well yesterday in emails obtained by a variety of sources, Abramoff called bullshit on the commander-in-cheif and claims that he and the president met nearly a dozen times and he was even invited to the ranch in Crawford, Texas but he didnt go because of religious reasons.

"NO, IT WAS THAT I WOULD HAVE HAD TO TRAVEL ON SATURDAY (SHABBOS). YES, I WAS INVITED, DURING THE 2004 CAMPAIGN. IT WAS SATURDAY AUGUST 9, 2003 AT THE RANCH IN CRAWFORD," abramoff said to Washintonian editor Kim Eisler. adding that the president "HE HAS ONE OF THE BEST MEMORIES OF ANY POLITICIAN I HAVE EVER MET. IT WAS ONE IF [sic] HIS TRADEMARKS, THOUGH OF COURSE HE CAN’T RECALL THAT HE HAS A GREAT MEMORY! THE GUY SAW ME IN ALMOST A DOZEN SETTINGS, AND JOKED WITH ME ABOUT A BUNCH OF THINGS, INCLUDING DETAILS OF MY KIDS. PERHAPS HE HAS FORGOTTEN EVERYTHING. WHO KNOWS."

so the President blatantly lying about not knowing jack abramoff isnt bloggable on the instapundit, ok maybe he was busy at his book signings. but perhaps it was bloggable on the 70+ person cadre of political bloggers at Pajamas Media?

not a chance. the only story that PJ chose to run regarding abramoff in the last two days was precisely the one that glenn linked to on instapunidt, the story about the dem senator's relationship with abramoff's clients.

its almost as if glenn and the pajamas people are writing the same blog.

hmmm.

as a matter of fact, if you go to Pajamas Media right now (9:23am PT) the lead story is, i shit you not, "How To Make Garfield Funny". yes, a story about the lovable fat cartoon cat.

pajamas and the professor resorting to pussy stories instead of commenting on the fact that the president might actually have a closer relationship to the lobby scandal than he is leading on to?

hell even the GOP towel boy drudge has a blaring headline right now - oh wait he changed it. Drudge's headline is about Brownie doing a heck of a job in trying to cover his ass while getting grilled on capital hill today. Brownie blames the Bush appointed Homeland Security. care to comment on that glenn, or pajamas?

what could it be like to be more partisan and biased and deceitful in your coverage than matt drudge? what must your reflection in the mirror seem like when you shave in the morning?

does one hear the haunting tune of bruce springsteen from tunnel of love "when i look at my face i dont see / the man i wanted to be / somewhere along the line i fell off track / moving one step forward / two steps back"?

finally we have the story about the special prosecutor Patrick Fitsgerald stating that Scooter Libby was told by his superiors (does the VP Cheif of Staff have any other superiors other than the VP and/or the P?) telling him to leak classified documents to the press that claimed that Saddam had wmds.

glenn, Fox News is reporting this story today and you're not?

so instapundit.com and pajamasmedia.com is more partisan and biased than Fox News in not talking about news that could make the GOP look bad? more of a bitch for the Right than Fox News?

is that something to be proud of?

who knew that sort of description could even be possible?

again, even drudge is linking to this story, wussying out and calling it a "claim" that Cheeney authorized the leak (suddenly Drudge is pretending to be professional) but at least he has it out there on the table.

but does the mighty professor?

no.

does the right wing propaganda machine of pj media? negatory.

it's almost like theyre accepting money not to write negative posts about the Right.

instead they tell us about a puddy cat who nobody has cared about in 20 years.

and when Bush finally does get impeached expect the professor to show you pictures of his campus and pajamas media posting stories on how to decide whether to buy a vhs or beta vcr for Christmas.

leah + metafilter on jack_off + crooks and liars
